Drakensberg hot air ballooning experience
Overnight at Antbear Lodge and get ready for the 5am wake up to experience your once in a lifetime hot air balloon flight. Soak in the awesome thrill and peaceful serenity of hot air ballooning on the edge of the Drakensberg mountains. Giants Castle, the Champagne Valley, the Kamberg Vallay. The hot air balloon take-off is from Antbear Lodge and within sight of Giants Castle. You will meet at the hot air balloon launch site approximately 40 minutes before sunrise, your pilot will then give you a safety briefing. Take off is 10 minutes before sunrise with the objective of seeing the sun rise from the basket of the balloon as you ascend. After helping to pack the hot air balloon you will return to Antbear Lodge for a champagne breakfast.

Andrew is passionate about sustainable tourism. He has built an Eco Lodge in the Drakensberg Mountains mostly from upcycled and alternative building materials including straw bales, rammed earth, cob, sun dried bricks stone and thatch cut right here on the farm.

Arrive at Antbear lodge and check in enjoy a leisurely dinner and if the sky is clear you can opt to join a star gazing hammock camp experience where a local villager tells is grandmothers stories of the night skies
Its an early morning wake up call and all you need to do is fall out of bed and meet at the lodge for that first coffee. Watch the balloon being inflated and if you would like to get involved you will be welcome to join in.
Takeoff is 10 mins before sunrise and then after your flight you return back to Antbear Lodge for breakfast and you can depart at your leisure. Many people add an extra night onto their hot air balloon package and get more value for their time in the Drakensberg
