The day starts leasurely at 09h00 with a southern Atlantic sailing dolphin and seal cruise in search of the Marine Big 5.  We return to the Waterfront at about 12h30, where your guide will meet you for your afternoon Sandwich Harbour excursion.  

We take a short break at the Walvis Bay Lagoon to experience a flamboyance of flamingos and a wreck of coastal birds that reside in and around the lagoon at different times of the year.  The drive takes us to the Kuiseb river delta, a dry riverbed where the odd springbok, oryx or jackal may be spotted.  As this area forms part of our exclusive Kuiseb Delta Concession, we are the only activity operator allowed to access this area.  

Depending on the tides and the swell, we may reach the Sandwich Harbour Lagoon along the beach, one of Southern Africa’s richest and unique wetlands and also one of Namibia’s five Ramsar sites.  Alternatively, we will take an exciting dune ride to our lookout dune to get a scenic aerial view of the Sandwich Harbour Lagoon.  

We have lots of time to stop for photography and enjoy our world famous oysters paired with sparkling wine; savoury snacks, Namibian beer and cooldrinks. We do this on top of a high dune overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, on the beach, or amongst the dunes.  The route homeward will take us past the area’s typical fauna and flora, including the endemic !Nara plant.  

We return to Walvis Bay at 16h30.

  • The cost of the experience includes all refreshments, permits and admissions.
  • Transfers, unless arranged at the time of booking.
  • Please allow about 40 minutes' drive from Swakopmund to Walvis Bay.
  • We're located on the Northern End of the Walvis Bay Waterfront - look out for our blue building opposite the departure jetty.

  • We serve our famous Namibian fresh oysters, paired with crisp sparkling wine, followed by a light lunch consisting of a selection of savoury and sweet nibbles, Namibian beer, cooldrinks and bottled mineral water.  We specifically also cater for guests with special dietary requirements, vegetarian, vegan, gluten sensitivities or other allergies.  Please advise at time of booking.
  • Please advise at time of booking if a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary, is being celebrated on board.

  • Please bring warm and comfortable clothes, sunblock and a hat.

About The Host

We the only Namibian marine tour operator that offers true sailing in the South Atlantic waters of Namibia.  

We set sail daily with the following four catamarans:

45ft Royal Cape Sailing Catamaran Silverwind, licenced for 25 guests.                                                                         45ft Royal Cape Sailing Catamaran Dreamchaser, licensed for 25 guests.                                                               55ft Cape Cat Sailing Catamaran Silverskye, licensed for 40 guests.                                                                         60ft Simonis Sailing Catamaran Silversand, licensed for 44 guests.

Our catamarans offer on-deck seating, one interior saloon, toilets, cabins and outside sheltered saloons where snacks are served. The safety of our guests is our prime priority. We make provision for persons with disabilities.

The desert 4x4 excursion is conducted by our sister company, Sandwich Harbour 4x4.

  • 100% cancellation fee if cancelled within 24 hours of departure.
  • All rates include 15% VAT.
  • Private excursion rates, or rates for additional extras available on request.
  • No tour is private unless specifically requested and quoted for.
  • 100 % cancellation fees will be charged for no shows.
  • We will also be open on 25 and 26 December and 01 January.
  • All tours include oysters, savoury and sweet snacks, sparkling wine, light drinks, cooldrinks and water.
  • Please advise in advance if guests need any physical assistance. We do cater for persons with disabilities.

  • Kindly note that any transfers/pick-ups are not included in the activity rate - however, it can be arranged at a small additional charge.
  • Due to the nature of the excursions we can regrettably not allow any pets on board.

Covid-19:  All staff have received their full Covid-19 vaccinations.  Covid-19 Standard Operations Policies are followed.

Safety:  The safety of our guests is our prime priority.  All tours are led by experienced and well-qualified guides. All vehicles are in radio contact with each other as well as with the office in Walvis Bay.  We also take along a satelite telephone on every excursion.

Personal Data Protection:  We take the privacy and security of individuals and their personal information very seriously and takes every reasonable measure and precaution to protect and secure the personal data that we process. We have robust information security policies and procedures in place to protect personal information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction and have several layers of security measures.  We do not collect and process personal data beyond what is required for reservations and interaction with our clients. We throughout ensure security and confidentiality of personal data, do not store personal information in open and easily accessible systems, and do not share any data with anyone.
