Your food tour begins with an early start anywhere in Johannesburg. Your guide will be waiting for you at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton. We will then head off to Soweto making stops at iconic places such as the Nelson Mandela House, FNB stadium and also try some local breakfast if time allows. Your guide will be chatting about the history of South African food.
Your two hour cookery class will take place outdoors, weather permitting. You will learn how to make either chicken or vegetable version with either pap (polenta or sadza).
Once all done, we will treat you to South African local beer (traditionally brewed). We wil then enjoy our lunch together and chatting more about local life. After that we will thank our chef and head back
I am Andile born in rural South Africa, but have lived in Johannesburg my whole life. Before I became a culture and wildlife guide, I was a mountain guide in the Drakensberg Mountain. I love my country and would like to show you around.
You will be taken to a farm or local market where you will pick up the ingredients for your meal. You are going to learn how to prepare local meal alongside a local chef. All this is happening in Soweto, the township that has shaped the history of South Africa; we will be chatting about the history of South Africa.
